Power Automate: Flow Limits & Runtime Constraints

Flow Duration

• Maximum Runtime: A single flow run can last up to 30 days.
• Dormant Flows: Flows not triggered for 90 days may be automatically turned off, especially under Free, Trial, or Microsoft 365 licenses. ​

Action Limits

• Total Actions per Flow: Up to 500 actions per flow.
• Nesting Depth: Maximum of 8 levels deep (e.g., nested conditions or loops).
• Switch Cases: Limit of 25 cases per switch control.

Payload & Variables

• Payload Size: Maximum of 100 MB per flow run.
• Variables: Up to 250 variables per flow.

Looping Considerations

• Do Until Loops: Ensure proper exit conditions to prevent infinite loops.
• Concurrency Control: Utilize to manage parallel executions and improve performance.
